Complaint Department

I would generally consider myself a positive person.  I’m usually quick to offer “cheer up old pal” words to those around me that seem a little down … or take myself on a walk when I’m frustrated.  Plus, I rarely - RARELY - yell, “oh shit, we’re all going to die!”  But this morning, a new definition of what it meant to be positive was glaring me in the face - quite literally, seeing as the TV always seems so very bright in the mornings.  Precious little Matt Laure brought a new topic to my life this morning when he interviewed a Reverend from the middle-of-nowhere.  Complaining drains on one’s happiness.

What?!?!?!?  I know.

Until I really started to think about it, I would have claimed that I was not a constant complainer.  But then, Matt started to ramble examples off a long list of things people complain about on a daily basis.

  • Headaches.  Yes, saying “God, I have the W-O-R-S-T headache!” counts.

  • Traffic. Well, I commute - so there’s just very little chance that I don’t yell [from the safety of inside my car] at someone in my path.

  • Job.  I huff and puff all the time about this one.

  • Money.  I guess, I’m alright there - but I do find myself irritated by the cost of lunch lately.  Just me?  Really?

  • Other people.  I’d be bearing false witness if I didn’t admit to holding my breath when a certain few people in my office cross my path.

So, you get the idea.  The whole “non-complaint” movement asks people to wear these “reminder” bracelets, which I guess is a good means of … reminding them not to complain.  But, honestly all I could think about when I saw that thing was - ew, plastic bracelets are uncomfortable!

…I guess I have a long, long way to go…

And we’re back…

So, I may or may not have slightly freaked out at the idea that I set this up. But, in an effort to pay tribute to those who have gone before me. I give you [or really myself] the opportunity to view some of my most favorite websites [or ones I peruse every day] all in one list. I know, it’s like the best present ever.

Okay, so THIS site examines all the little mistakes stupid people make speaking. Hello, being right like one of the most important things in the whole world … especially when that rightness provides you the opportunity to correct people. Dehr.
